  • I play AND LOVE a Selmer Mark 6 tenor saxophone (pics below), made in 1969 with an Otto Link NY 7* metal mouthpiece, a Francois Louie ligature (I also use a Winslow ligature, but it's busted!) and size 3 Vandoren JAVA reeds.
My other woodwind instruments include a 1924 King soprano, a 1948 Selmer Balanced Action alto saxophone, a Yamaha Custom EX soprano saxophone, a Selmer 10S clarinet and a Pearl flute.
I also have 16 Indian bansuri flutes, chromatically tuned from a low F to G# an octave and a bit higher. They are all quite special!
Scroll down for other cool instruments and my looping setup.
  • My rhythm section weapons of choice include a Kala tenor ukulele (pictured), a Kala bass ukulele (pictured), a crappy pink kids electric guitar (pimped out by Steve Salvi), a Fender (USA) Jazz bass, a kalimba (pictured), a Hohner melodica, a glockenspiel and my pride and joy... a 70's Wurlitzer electric piano. If you would like to hear it in action go to La Boheme in Adelaide on a Wednesday night and witness the greatness of Chris Martin playing it (he's borrowing it while I'm away!)... I also have a large range of shakers, other percussion instruments (like djembes, an udo, various bells etc etc.)
  • Below is the rundown of my looping pedal setup.

    Diago Showman pedal case
MI Effects Crunch Box distortion pedal
Electro-Harmonix POG2 Polyphonic Octave Generator octave pedal (SICK!!! I'm in love with this pedal!!)
    Boss TU3 tuner
    Boss LS2 line selector
Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Nano reverb pedal
JT Sax Tone pedal... this pedal was custom made for me (as a gift!!) by Adelaide sound tech Marty Jones (hear his work the first and third mondays of the month at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Adelaide where he mixes for the COMA gigs... www.coma.net.au)... it is essentially a transformer pedal that matches the impedance of the pedals for a microphone as pedals are usually played by a guitar or bass using a guitar jack line in. The JT Sax Tone also has a built in EQ which beefs out the bottom end and pulls back some of the ugly highs produced by playing an acoustic instrument thru so many tone sucking pedals. It has great results if you are doing similar performing as me with acoustic looping. Email me for more info about it and Marty's contact if you're interested.
    ... now where were we??....
Dunlop Cry Baby bass wah wah pedal
Akai Headrush looper/delay/tape echo pedal. (old faithful... this was the first looping pedal I bought back in 2000. It's still one of the best pedals I own).
I also use a Radial J48 D.I. (lush) and an SM58 microphone (with switch)
My patch leads of choice are the amazing George L's... the are a clean and crisp patch lead that you cut to size yourself. They have really cleaned up my pedal board... zoom in, have a closer look, some of them are only a couple of cm long!

If you have any queries about all this stuff, please email me. I'd be happy to have a chin wag about it all.
